The MV-22 Osprey Developmental Flight Test Team had a high priority requirement to conduct High-Altitude testing. After evaluating dozens of potential sites, Gunnison, CO was selected based on altitude, favorable weather conditions, available facilities, and its established infrastructure including an on-site Tethered Hover pad. The support we received from Gunnison Valley Aviation (GVA) was outstanding which ensured our testing was completed within cost and schedule constraints. Our testing was so successful that we returned to Gunnison to conduct follow on testing. When the test team discusses High-Altitude testing, Gunnison, CO is always at the top of our list.
